Your Documents Never Leave Your Browser
PDF Redaction processes everything locally on your device using browser-native technologies. No uploads, no servers, no cloud processing. Your sensitive documents stay exactly where they should — on your machine, under your control.
How It Works
What's NOT involved in processing:
Browser-Native Technology Stack
Web Workers
PII detection runs in a dedicated Web Worker thread, keeping the UI responsive. Your document is processed in an isolated context that has no network access.
WebAssembly (WASM)
PDF parsing uses pdfjs-dist compiled to WASM for near-native speed. Text extraction, layout analysis, and glyph mapping all happen in the browser sandbox.
Web Crypto API
When you choose encryption-based anonymization, we use the browser's native AES-256-GCM implementation via the Web Crypto API — the same crypto used by online banking.
Local Storage Only
Document metadata and processing history are stored in your browser's IndexedDB and localStorage. This data never syncs to any server and is fully under your control.
Verify It Yourself
Don't take our word for it. Open your browser's Developer Tools and watch the Network tab while you process a document. You'll see zero outbound requests during PII detection and redaction.
You Own Your Data — Delete It Anytime
Since all processing history is stored locally in your browser, you have complete control over it. Delete it anytime — no support ticket, no waiting period, no “account deletion request.”
Clear Browser Data
Go to your browser settings and clear site data for pdfredaction.com. This removes all stored metadata, preferences, and processing history instantly.
Clear from Dashboard
Use the document library in your dashboard to delete individual documents or clear your entire processing history with one click. Everything is removed from your browser's local storage immediately.
Private / Incognito Mode
For maximum privacy, use PDF Redaction in a private browsing window. All processing data is automatically deleted when you close the window — zero traces left behind.
